I think homework really affects students. Homework can make you stay up till one o'clock in the morning. I think they should not allow teachers to give you that much homework. School is already six hours why give five hours of homework?

i agree that homework affects students but so does their friends. there is always a problem with one of them. but with jobs, school and family their never seems to be any relax time.

yea, i understand that most teachers would say it is impossible to learn with out homework. I would agree to some point but alot of the teachers go overboard with the homework and i think we do need a little down time.

Okay i think the main issue that affects students is rest. Some students think its okay to stay up until 12 on the phone or on the computer and expect to be okay in the morning. it jus doesnt work like that.. maybe for some kids but most kids no. you have to get enough sleep. you cant just blame it on the teacher all the time that u cant ever get your homework done. its not their fault your pre-occupied. i do agree with the too much homework.. i think some teachers dont understand that the kids have more than ONE class to study for or have homework in. it makes me so mad when i have homework in every subject.. especially when u have sports everyday after school. its rediculus and i think teachers need to lower the freaking homework.. teachers always say they need breaks.. yeah well so do students :)

I think bullying affects students the most because they can not keep their focus in class if they are thinking about the bully the whole time.

I like your topics. drpepperisbeastin!, I really like how you include student's personal responsibility as part of the issue of rest.

what affects high school students today i think drugs and alcohol affects a lot of students today because there are so many students spend there weekends drinking and doing drugs and they eventually get lazy and drop out and then their life's are ruined they will not get a job or have a place to live that's why this topic has affected high school students for years

Yeah i would have to agree with big d drugs and alcohol does affect high school students majorly and peer pressure has alot to do with drugs and alcohol.

yeah i agree that sometimes responsibility is the problem but not for all students and i think sometimes teachers don't understand that there are responsible students in their class even though the majority is not responsible and tend to not acknowlage the students that are actually responsible and do their work. This i think is probably the worst thing you can do to a student. I think this because, when a student is not acknowledge then they start seeking attention and start to act up in class for attention or do other things.

i agree with what everyone is say i think, along with alot of homework is that students that have sports after school dont get out till 5 or 6 o'clock. time you get home eat dinner get your homework done its already 12. i dont see how anyone can do good on a test if they have to stay up till 12 doing homework

I have to disagree I don't think its homework. I personally have problems with homework but what causes most students (including me) is to try to appeal to others. Peer pressure basically. Teen-agers will say one thing but on the inside feel different. Because to most of us, being accepted seems to be a bigger priority then being ourselves.

yeah i pretty much am agreeing with the drugs and alcohol thing.
some kids do that on weekends and then expect to come to school monday and be fine.. when really they dont have any of their crap done because they were to busy partying and they blame it on the teacher for giving out to much homework..which is ridiculus

ya i agree with what you say about the drugs on the weekends and then comming to school with there homework not done. If there partying all weekend and not getting there work done they are going to bam it on having to much or it is to hard and stressfull so i didnt do it.

Well, I agree with some of the things being said here. It is established that students play a role of a victim most of the time, but they themselves have yet to take upon the role of the responsibility bearer. Not everyone can wake up each day with a surging rush of adrenaline to get their studies done, and let nothing get in their way. This isn't leave it to beaver. This is reality, and again, we dread it, but its necessary routine to be accepted in this worl where you are less if you haven't completed the feats others have, where you are judged by your accomplishments. But it rests that your school life holds this constant shadow over everything you do. Like the humans we are, we will disregard it, and block out our responsibility, taking on other roles, and putting fourth things of non-necessity. Not going to lie, drugs, alcohol and other substances are a great problem, and are used as scapegoats to blame for the incomplete efforts put fourth by students and everyday people alike. Is it a problem? That's what I'm asking everyone. Is it a problem that we can learn to look past our responsibilty and take a mental holiday when we aren't forced into the educational system? Is it okay that we direct our attention away from our studies to participate in extracurricular ones, that may or may not benefit us in the long run? I'm aspiring to become a writer, and a musician. I'm told I'm great at both, but does it give me the right to turn away my studies in turn for a shot at improving just those skills? In my opinion, I don't think it is. But I do it anyway. Give me some feedback, what do you think about it?
