Many of you loved the book; many of you hated it. Please write a paragraph or two that explains your opinion of The House of Scorpions. Please give reasons to justify what you say.
I think it was mostly a good book. i thought it was most interesting in the begginning of the book because you find out how he is a clone and how the Alacran family is organized. The only part of the book i didnt enjoy was at the end it seemed really slow and i didnt like the ending. When he went back to the Alacron estate at the end to find everyone dead i was hoping that their would be some kind of fight but their wasnt. Overall i thought it was a pretty good book.
yeah i agree with fzwhockey1 the other definatly milked the book. I think she should have ended it way earlier and then maybe it would have been a good book because there would have been consistent amount of action in the book.
Overall the book did not appeal to me. Like most bad stories, it dragged on and on and didn't seem to stay on topic. Events such as the hospital and the plankton farm did not contribute to the story line. Multiple times I tried to give the book a chance and I'll admit that the book was alright in small doses but once it got good, it would once again skid off into some unimportent series of events. I have to agree with albertpujols, true stories appeal to me more than genres such as sci-fi.
i think that it really wasnt a good book. but thats only because i hate sci-fi. but it still had a good voice. it just didnt appeal to me because i like books that are more close to reality, and this book was just unrealistic. plus i like when i can relate to the charaters and i cant because well i dont know what it is like to be a clone.
Here's my take on this book. I thought I would hate it. Because like citrus.elephant I hate sci-fi. But in all, the book interested me. The voice was strong, and even though it was totally hokey and unrealistic, the read was not bad at all. I read through it, and It was actually compelling. The author really threw out the unreal as if it were normalities, and I liked that. It was a dilluted sci-fi, and thats what really turned me on to it. All in all, it was a good read. I'd probably rate it a 6 out of 10.
i liked the basic story line and the characters but i felt like it kept going and going and going i mean i didn't know they could drag a book out so long and still have it published i think they should rewrite it and not drag it out so long and then maybe i could say i loved it. until then it was just an alright book
